Public Records Request

Use this form to ask Vigo County government for copies of public records, or to look at records in person. Indiana's Access to Public Records Act (IC 5-14-3) gives everyone the right to see public records, apart from exceptions set by law.

Before you start

  • Be as specific as you can — what the records are, the subject, names and dates. The law asks that a request identify the records with reasonable particularity, and a very broad request may be turned down.
  • There is no charge to make a request. Copies may have a fee allowed by Indiana law.
  • Court case records are held by the Clerk of the Vigo Circuit Court, and birth and death certificates by the Health Department's vital records office. Please contact them directly.

Fields marked with an asterisk are required.
